Putting in the ‘Hard Yards’

As many of you are aware, I have had to start my blog (better know as andycockayne.com) again from scratch and I am having to try and work on getting it back to where it was before at every given opportunity – basically that means getting home from my ‘day job’ at around 5pm and ‘digging’ straight in.

Now normally that wouldn’t be too much of a problem, however, today when I arrived home the temperature outside was still 20′ (which is very warm for the UK, particularly in April!!) – I could hear the lawnmowers going and I could even smell a barbie on the go but being the strict disciplinarian that I am I headed straight for my office! :-)

Normally, I would have ‘potted’ around in the garden and probably had a beer sat in my favourite garden chair but I know how important it is for me to get back on track, if I am going to make a living from this business (which is my medium \ long term aim!) then some sacrifices have to be made and a bit of sunshine is hardly a sacrifice (we have all Summer to come, don’t we?!)

Putting in the ‘Hard Yards’ is what I have done tonight and to be successful in anything you do or take on requires some hard work, without which you will never reach your target.

I remember being quoted something quite a few years ago now but it has remained with me throughout my career, I have no idea who wrote it but it stands as bold today as it did when it was first written;

There Is No Great Success Without Great Commitment

Thanks for reading!

Andy

  3. Hi Andy, it was Louis Bromfield who said that. Another great one is

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”
    – Mark Twain

    Enjoy the journey.

  4. Loved this post Andy. It really hit home with me as I too had to remind myself that the sacrifices I am making now will translate into rewards. I just have to stick with it!
Glad to see you up and running again!

  6. Great post Andy,
Sorry to learn about you losing the original blog. I assumed that when it is uploaded there is a copy on the server. However perhaps we should all think about back-up?
Coincidentally this is the second time I have written a comment. First time I hit the wrong key and lost it! Spooky :O)

  11. Hello Andy,
Good post and congratulations on getting your blog back up to speed, it’s looking good. You’re right about it being difficult to get down to the IM business when you’ve done a day job, especially when the sun’s shining…
I have to admit my own blog has fallen by the wayside quite a bit lately as I struggle to find time to work on my ebook, which is also falling behind, so I relate to your post very much. Hopefully the work you’ve put in restoring things will inspire me to focus and start putting regular blog posts up again (as well as finish the ebook!).
    Good luck

    Regards

    Dave Smith

  12. Hi Dave,
