I’m sure that if you are not already using Twitter you are more than aware of what it is and so I’m not going to go into that – I will be honest though and say that although I set my Twitter account up 6 months ago and have over 400 followers I don’t use it to its full potential, in fact I bet I do not even use 5% of its capability!
It’s not difficult to find lots of information about how best to use Twitter but I find a lot of the info is geared towards the ‘gimmicks’ and not the hard facts that show you how to make Twitter work.
One person I started to follow on Twitter recently is Nikki Pilkington, a self confessed Twitter addict – Nikki has produced a short .pdf giving a checklist of what you should do to really get started with Twitter, I am working through the document and finding it very useful.
The document is by no means exhaustive but if you manage to ‘tick off’ all 40 points then I’m sure you will be in a much stronger position with regards to increasing traffic to your site through the power of Twitter!
Please enter your details below and I will get the document straight over to you, as always I guarantee your privacy and you can unsubscribe at any time!
A couple of years ago when attending a marketing course I became aware of a man who is an absolute legend in the world of advertising -- his name is David Ogilvy.
Sadly Mr Ogilvy died in 1999 aged 88, however, his work, writings and company are very much still part of todays advertising and marketing world.
Mr Ogilvy was behind some of the first iconic groundbreaking advertisements seen in newspapers and television and his clients included Shell, Rolls Royce, American Express, Unilever & Guinness (To name just a few)
One of his famous advertisements was for Rolls Royce and the opening paragraph to the full page ad was “At 60 miles per hour the loudest noise comes from the electric clock”
You could imagine Rolls Royce still using that paragraph today as a headline in one of their sales brochures;
“At 80mph The Only Sound You Can Hear Is That From the Electric Clock”
I recently bought one of his Mr Ogilvy’s books called ‘Ogilvy on Advertising’ and although first published in 1983 the guidelines are still applicable today and will be for many years to come -- it is a very inspirational book and I thoroughly recommend it!
You can also find some very good footage about My Ogilvy on YouTube, particularly ‘A conversation about advertising with David Ogilvy’ -- it is 54 minutes long but again so very interesting!
I also found another video on YouTube that was created by Ogilvy Advertising London in 2007, it makes me smile but is so powerful… Enjoy!
When you write an article for your blog or to submit to an article directory you will probably choose a writing style using either an informational or personal approach.
I prefer the informational style, however, on occassions I will revert to a personal style of writing – let me try to explain
If I was writing an article in the health niche about building muscle I could write in a personal story format, for example;
“I was eating a lot of tuna and cooked chicken which is high in protein, I was also training at the gym for 2 hours per day – within 4 weeks I started to see an increase in body muscle”
However, if I decided to write the article in an informational style, I would word it something like this;
Tuna and cooked chicken are high in protein and should be eaten after your daily workout, you should start to see an increase in body muscle within a few weeks
Obviously there is nothing stopping you from writing the article in both styles, you could then use one article for your blog or website and submit the other to an article directory, this way you are increasing your chances of traffic and also avoiding any duplicate content issues!
Writing articles does become much easier with practice and good quality articles do get read and do significantly increase traffic to your site – an informative article should be between 300 – 400 words, be gramatically correct and contain no spelling mistakes!
When a customer is deliberating whether to buy your product one of the key questions he will ask himself is, do I trust this person and is the information I am reading correct…
Well in an ideal world you would have a better chance of convincing your potential customer to buy the product if you could speak with them on the telephone or better still meet them in person, but we all know that is not possible and after all we are running an internet business…
So we have to convince our customer that we are supplying them with unique and genuine information, we have to generate their interest and gain their trust in order to gain their order!
You may have heard of a term called ‘Salesmanship In Print‘?
If you were conducting a ‘face to face’ sales presentation with a prospect you would probably (possibly without knowing it!) use a strategy known as AICDA which stands for Attention – Interest – Conviction – Desire – Action (I will cover this in much more detail in a future post and as a side note, this is the foundation of an ebook that I am writing which will be available soon!)
So what I am trying to say here is that we agree that the best way to get a prospect into a customer is to meet with them ‘face to face’ right?
Wrong! – If you get your Sales Copy right using the AICDA formula then you will convert many more prospects into customers than you could ever dream about by meeting them in person – just think how many more people you can reach using this marketing strategy, thousands, millions!
This strategy can be used for everything, not just for creating a sale - it can be used if you want people to send for your FREE report or signup for your newsletter and remember it continually works 24 hours a day 7 days a week!
I never understood what all the fuss was about AWeber, whenever I read newsletters, blog posts or emails from people and AWeber was mentioned I used to click off the page or stop reading – how little did I know!
That was back then, I’m talking a three years ago when I thought Internet Marketing was this new dotcom that would make me a quick buck!
Move forward to 2009 and I now know that one of the best investments you will ever make in your Internet Marketing business will be a quality Autoresponder and for me there is only one choice.
AWeber is like a 24/7 PA – it is so powerful and versatile and is a ‘must have’ if you are serious about growing your business and customer list.
There is a Internet Marketing ’saying’ that you have probably heard before, ‘The Money Is In The List’ - well I cannot emphasise enough the importance of that statement and don’t just take my word for it…
Jonathan Mizel is a renowned dynamic speaker and has been labelled ‘master of targetted opt-in email’ – his fees for speaking at seminars are incredible!
One of Jonathans famous quotes is “One of the most important things you can capture from a customer is NOT his money. It’s…
I’m sure you can complete the remainder of the quote?!
As an AWeber customer I have been given exclusive rights to a 1 hour video from one of Jonathan Mizel’s seminars, it’s actually one he did in London and you too can have access to this amazing talk by signing up as an AWeber customer;
In the video Jonathan reveals;
Totally unique ways to use AWeber

This is a question I used to continually ask myself but now I find that I rarely think about it, I think this is mainly due to the fact that I now know it is possible to make a living and not only that I firmly believe that it can be a full time job earning a much better than average full time income!
Now I know that is quite a bold statement but the more time I spend working in this business (albeit part time at the moment) the more I realise that anyone who is willing to work hard (put in the ‘hard yards‘) and learn is destined to become successful and have a very good standard of living!
I realise that some of you have already tasted success in Internet Marketing and so can relate to what I am saying, however, for anyone just starting out trying to piece together how it all works is a very difficult and daunting task.
The best advice I can give anyone who is wanting to make a start is to find a mentor, someone who is proven in this business and who comes recommended – one of the best places to visit to find such a person is The Warrior Forum
If you do want a recommendation from myself then check out John Thornhill, I can certainly recommend John as a Internet Marketing mentor, mainly because I am (still) one of his students!
So, before you spend a single dollar on an Ebook, have a look around the Warrior Forum and read up on who people are ‘raving’ about and then before you make your decision, check out John Thornhill!!
As many of you are aware, I have had to start my blog (better know as andycockayne.com) again from scratch and I am having to try and work on getting it back to where it was before at every given opportunity – basically that means getting home from my ‘day job’ at around 5pm and ‘digging’ straight in.
Now normally that wouldn’t be too much of a problem, however, today when I arrived home the temperature outside was still 20′ (which is very warm for the UK, particularly in April!!) – I could hear the lawnmowers going and I could even smell a barbie on the go but being the strict disciplinarian that I am I headed straight for my office!
Normally, I would have ‘potted’ around in the garden and probably had a beer sat in my favourite garden chair but I know how important it is for me to get back on track, if I am going to make a living from this business (which is my medium \ long term aim!) then some sacrifices have to be made and a bit of sunshine is hardly a sacrifice (we have all Summer to come, don’t we?!)
Putting in the ‘Hard Yards’ is what I have done tonight and to be successful in anything you do or take on requires some hard work, without which you will never reach your target.
I remember being quoted something quite a few years ago now but it has remained with me throughout my career, I have no idea who wrote it but it stands as bold today as it did when it was first written;
There Is No Great Success Without Great Commitment
For anyone that has visited my blog previously, you may be wondering where all my posts went to?
Well, I had a problem which resulted in me having to delete my blog totally and start again, this dealt me a huge blow, I had worked so hard to get it up and running and to the stage it was at – I must admit it did cross my mind not to continue at all but a few words of inspiration from people who have been in a similar situation convinced me to start again…
There is a saying, ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ well I hope this is the case here, I can put my blog misfortune down to experience and can also ‘iron out’ any creases that were there before.
I still have copies of all my previous posts and I will recycle them in this blog, so if you have been a previous visitor please forgive me for that but I was happy with the chosen topics and they were very much related to what I am trying to achieve.
