My Low Carb Diet

by Andy on June 9, 2011

If you have ever tried to lose weight, you will empathise with me when reading this post…

I wish to stress that I am not vastly overweight but I have ‘put on’ half a stone  (7lb or over 3 kg) in the past few months and ideally I could do with losing a full stone (14lb or 6.135kg) before my holiday in August…

My plan is to lower my carb intake through the avoidance of foods such as cereals, bread, potatoes and pasta – and obviously alcohol is a complete no!

I am also trying to get a little bit of exercise each day, even if it is taking my pet greyhound Tilly for a walk in the fields near where we live…

The low carb diet does allow high protein foods such as meat, fish & eggs so there is no shortage of ideas – the main problem I have is my normal breakfast is a bowl of cereal and toast with a large mug of tea! – but I am now trying to have an omelette with bacon or sausage which normally is a weekend treat not an everyday occurrence!

Being only in week 1 of my diet I have a weekend looming when normally I would enjoy a glass or two of red wine and if the weather is good and we’re barbecuing a couple of cold beers but this weekend I will be drink ‘zero-sugar’ coke while my wife opens a bottle of my favourite Rioja!

I’m glad I have commenced with the diet because for me the hardest part is actually getting started, once I get a few more days ‘under my belt’ I think it will become easier and I will be more determined to succeed in losing a few lbs

I’m open to any dietry recommendations or meal ideas!
